Stating Priorities and Organizing Ideas

การจัดลำดับความสำคัญและเรียบเรียงสิ่งที่เราต้องการนำเสนอ หลังจากที่เราอ่านบทความทางวิชาการแล้ว เราสามารถจับใจความหรือเนื้อความหลักว่าบทความนั้นๆว่าด้วยเรื่องอะไร แยกเป็นประเด็นอะไรบ้าง จากนั้นเราสามารถวิเคราะห์หรือประเมินสิ่งที่เราอ่านว่า มีความชัดเจน น่าเชื่อถือแค่ไหน มีตัวอย่างหลักฐานประกอบหรือไม่ มีส่วนไหนที่เราเห็นด้วย ไม่เห็นด้วยอย่างไร

ในการจับประเด็นหรือการนำเสนอความคิดเห็นในสิ่งที่เราอ่านนั้น เราสามารถจัดลำดับความสำคัญและเรียบเรียงได้ด้วยการใช้ตัวเชื่อมที่เรียกว่า Transitional words หรือ transitions เช่น คำที่แสดงลำดับก่อนหลัง เช่น First อันดับแรก Second อันดับที่สอง next ต่อมา soon ในไม่ช้าต่อมา later หลังจากนั้น เป็นต้น หรือ คำที่แสดงตัวอย่าง เช่นคำว่า for example, for instance หรือ as an illustration ดังตัวอย่าง (ภาพ)การขยายความเพิ่มเติม ทั้งนี้คำเชื่อมบางตัวอาจทำหน้าที่ต่างกันออกไปอีก เช่น แสดงการเปรียบเทียบ similarly คล้ายๆกัน ทำนองเดียวกัน but แต่ however อย่างไรก้ตาม ดังลายละเอียดบางส่วนในเอกสารประกอบการเรียนในหน้า 43

สิ่งสำคัญที่ผู้เรียนควรจะเรียนรู้และทำได้หลังการเรียนบทนี้ คือ นำเสนอประเด็นที่จะพูด จะแสดงความเห็นได้อย่างมีระบบ มีลำดับขั้นตอนชัดเจน สะดวกในการฟังและง่ายต่อการจับประเด็น เช่น ระบุประเด็นหรือหัวข้อการพูดก่อนว่า สิ่งที่ผู้เรียนควรจะได้หลังจากการเรียนบทนี้มี(สาม) ประการคือ ประการที่หนึ่ง (First), ………., second……. หรือ X is a very popular machine in many countries. For example, 60 % of the people in …… are using the product. In addition………..

คำแนะนำ นักศึกษาควรทำความเข้าใจ และจำการใช้คำต่างๆเหล่านี้ไว้ แล้วทดลองใช้ในการสรุปหรือพูดถึงประเด็นต่างๆเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ และหรืออาจลองเขียนแล้วให้อาจารย์ผู้สอนตรวจเพื่อให้ความเห็นก็ได้

Dear All (Academic English) Students ,

ขอให้ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับแนวหรือรูปแบบข้อสอบกลางภาคตามที่กลุ่มผู้สอนได้แจ้งเวียนให้แจ้งนักศึกษาทุกกลุ่มได้ คือข้อสอบมีอยู่ห้าส่วนตามรายละเอียดข้างล่างนี้ ครูขออนุญาตแปลบ้างไม่แปลบ้างนะ จะได้ใช้ความพยายามหัดอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ
I.รูปแบบของข้อสอบMidterm
There are 5 parts in the paper:  มีห้าส่วนดังนี้

Part 1: Writing bibliographies ( ดู task 2, page 9 สำหรับการเตรียมตัว)

Part 2: Understanding the main idea of the paragraph ( You have to write

the main ideas of the paragraphs yourselves ต้องเขียนเอง คล้ายๆกับ task 1,

page 17)
Part 3: Understanding meaning of words in context (ต้องหาความหมาย

the meanings of unfamiliar words, and write และเขียน the meaning of words เอง,

no multiple choices provided ไม่มีตัวเลือกให้ คล้ายกับ tasks 3 and 4, pages 25-26)

Part 4: Understanding references (ส่วนนี้คล้ายกับ task 6, page 33)

Part 5: Understanding Inferences (ดู task 7, pages36-38, but there are multiple

choices provided)

II. The students can’t take a dictionary into the exam room.ห้ามนำDictionary เข้าห้องสอบ

III. The instruction of the first part of MT exam, writing bibliographies: we’ll just let the students

write bibliographies. They don’t have to use the quotation marks and underline the title.

They’ll get the full score if they put the information given in the right order (as in the textbook).
